A WebDAV client can connect to cPanel Web Disk so remote files appear in a desktop file-management workflow. Use the account-specific secure connection details and remember that a remote edit can change the live website immediately.

Check access and requirements
Create a suitably restricted Web Disk user first. Confirm the client supports HTTPS WebDAV and the server’s certificate hostname. Keep a local backup before editing important remote files.
01 Connect a computer to cPanel Web Disk
- Open Web Disk in cPanel and choose Configure Client Access for the intended account.
- Select the relevant operating system or client instructions where offered. Copy the exact server, secure port and username rather than guessing from the website address.
- Add the HTTPS WebDAV connection in your supported client. cPanel’s secure Web Disk service commonly uses port
2078; use the value supplied for your service. - Authenticate and inspect the visible directory. Test a download and, only if authorised, an upload of a harmless file.
- Save credentials only in a trusted client profile and disconnect when working on a shared computer. Keep the connection labelled with the correct account and domain.
Confirm the expected result
The expected directory should be visible and the account’s read-only or read-write restriction should behave correctly. Check the website if a public file was changed.
What should I check when my computer cannot connect to Web Disk?
If connection fails, check certificate validity, port reachability and client compatibility before changing permissions. Do not switch to clear-text access as a routine workaround. The main Web Disk identity can access the hosting home, so prefer a scoped additional user for third parties.
