If a website or email service fails near a domain's expiry, check the registration first. Renewing hosting does not renew a separately billed domain, and repairing website files will not remove a registration hold.

01 Confirm the cause before changing records
- Open the domain's authenticated account and review its status, invoice and expiry information.
- Check the exact domain with authoritative registration lookup. Record any hold, redemption or deletion status.
- Check whether your DNS nameservers were replaced by an expiry or parking service. Save the intended nameserver list and zone records before making changes.
- Review the relevant renewal or restoration price and submit the supported action through the current provider.
- If a payment is already recorded, give support its invoice and operation reference so the existing request can be checked.
02 Restore registration, then verify the services
After the provider confirms recovery, check that the domain is active and the intended delegation has been restored. Query every authoritative nameserver for the website address and mail records. Check DNSSEC if the domain previously used it, particularly if parking or nameserver changes altered the signing arrangement.
Test the website over HTTPS and send a fresh email in each direction. Existing sender queues may retry mail, but permanently rejected messages are not guaranteed to reappear. Ask important correspondents to resend messages after service is confirmed.
Why is the site still unavailable after I paid?
Payment, registry completion and resolver cache expiry are different stages. Confirm which one is outstanding. If authoritative DNS still returns parking records, ask the provider to check the restored configuration. If the authoritative answer is correct but a recursive resolver has the old answer, examine its remaining cache lifetime. A continuing SERVFAIL requires diagnosis instead of an automatic instruction to wait.
Do not repeatedly buy renewals or create a replacement registration order while the first result is uncertain. An expired name can enter a stage with different recovery requirements, and another party may eventually acquire it if it is released. Contact support promptly with the domain and observed status; there is no universal grace period that guarantees recovery.
