Customise the HostBill client area so customers can recognise your business and reach billing, services and support easily. Start with the controls supported by the active theme and verify important account workflows after each material design change.

01 Apply supported branding and navigation
- Open General Settings > Client Area Template and choose Edit. Check whether the active theme supports the editor; the available controls differ between themes.
- Record or export your existing customisation where possible. Test substantial changes in a restricted staging environment using the same theme version.
- Set the appropriate logo variants and site icons. Check contrast on light and dark backgrounds and avoid oversized source images that slow the client area.
- Adjust the theme's supported colours, typography and layout controls. Preserve readable error messages, focus visibility and usable buttons on small screens.
- Use the menu editor to add or edit relevant sections and links. Prefer the predefined application destinations where available and configure the intended signed-in or signed-out visibility.
- Review any file overrides against the installed template version. Keep a record of the original file, override and purpose so future upgrades can be assessed.
- Test registration, sign-in, password recovery, checkout, invoice payment, service access and ticket submission as an ordinary customer.
02 Review operational effects
Check that a contact with restricted permissions still sees the correct navigation. Hiding a menu entry does not replace the underlying access controls. Test direct links to relevant pages as well as the menu itself.
Add custom JavaScript or analytics only through an approved implementation process. Client-area pages may contain account and billing information, so assess what an added script can access and verify that it does not break forms or payment components.
03 Example: verify HostBill branding through a customer journey
Your hosting company has changed its logo and accent colour. Open General Settings > Client Area Template > Edit where the active theme supports the editor.
- Apply the approved logo variants and theme colour choices.
- Check the client-area menu links to services, invoices and support.
- Save the supported customisation and open the client area as an ordinary test customer.
- Sign in, open a service, review an invoice and submit a controlled support ticket.
- Repeat the important screens on a narrow display and with a restricted contact account.
Expected result: customers recognise the company and can complete the same practical tasks after the design change. Theme previews alone do not establish that payment forms, account controls or restricted navigation still work.
Common questions
Why is the Edit option missing for my theme?
Not every HostBill theme supports the visual editor. Follow that theme's supported customisation method and compatibility instructions.
Why did an upgrade restore old-looking pages or break a custom screen?
Review file overrides and deployed theme files. An override based on an older template can omit fields or scripts required by the updated application.
