Completing certificate domain validation by email

security-ssl, email

Email domain validation works when an authorised person receives and approves the certificate authority's challenge for the exact pending order. Use an address and method offered in that order; an arbitrary billing email is not automatically eligible.

01 Complete the approval

  1. Open the certificate service in your Nabtech account. Check the domain names, issuer and pending validation method.
  2. Select an available administrative address that your organisation controls, or the supported DNS-published contact method. Confirm that the mailbox can receive external mail.
  3. Request or resend the validation message from the service's authorised interface. Ask the mailbox administrator to search quarantine and delivery logs if it does not arrive.
  4. Open the expected message and verify that its domain and request match the order you initiated. Approve only that request through the legitimate certificate authority's link.
  5. Return to the order and check whether domain validation is complete. An organisation-validated certificate can still have separate business checks pending.
  6. Record who receives future validation requests so renewal does not depend on a departed employee.

Common questions

Can I make my private registration contact public to receive approval?

Use the current methods presented by the issuer. Legacy instructions relying on public WHOIS contact email should not determine your setup. DNS validation is often a practical alternative when the offered mailbox is unavailable.

Why is a working mailbox not receiving the challenge?

Check the exact selected recipient, mail routing and quarantine. A domain alias that receives ordinary mail might not match the recipient selected on the order. Avoid repeated resends until the address and delivery path are confirmed.

Does approving the email install HTTPS?

Approval proves control for the request. Issuance, installation and assigning the certificate to the correct service still need to complete.
