Following an AI Engineer investigation from diagnosis to verification

ai-engineer, web-hosting

Our AI Engineers are designed to work through a technical task in stages. A typical workflow is to understand the request, inspect the available evidence, explain the findings, propose a change, apply authorized work, and verify the result. The exact sequence depends on the issue, the available tools, and whether the Engineer needs more information from you.

01 Inspect the evidence before choosing a repair

During investigation, the Engineer may check a page response, inspect an error log, review a setting, or read relevant code. These checks help distinguish an observed symptom from its possible cause. For example, a failed page could relate to application code, a configuration change, a plugin, or an unavailable external service. A useful diagnosis explains which evidence supports the proposed fix.

02 Review the change and authorize the appropriate work

Before a change, review what will be affected and how success will be checked. Under the default approval workflow, changes normally wait for your authorization. Where appropriate, ask for a current backup or a staging test first. If the proposed action does not match your goal, decline it and explain the concern so the Engineer can reconsider.

03 Verify the result and keep a useful record

After execution, the Engineer can inspect the result and continue with another step where tools and allowance permit. Verification might include loading the affected page, checking recent logs, or confirming that a setting now contains the intended value. A successful individual command is only part of that evidence.

Finish by checking the real customer action yourself, such as opening the page, sending a test enquiry, or completing an approved test flow. Ask for a summary of what changed, what was verified, and what remains unresolved. This gives you a useful record if further work or human support is needed.

04 Example: record what a completed investigation established

After investigating a page error, ask the Engineer for a record that connects the observed problem with the actual work:

Example details
Affected page: [the page that failed]
Evidence found: [the relevant error or configuration result]
Approved change: [the file or setting actually changed]
Verification: [the check performed and observed result]
Customer check: [the original action you repeated]
Remaining issue: [anything unresolved, or none identified]

Compare that record with the activity feed and your own test. If a tool saved a setting but the page still fails, record the remaining failure instead of marking the whole investigation successful.

Expected result: you have a precise handover or completion record that another person can follow without repeating uncertain changes.

How do I confirm what each approved AI step actually did?

  1. Before execution, confirm the affected resource and a suitable recovery method.
  2. After execution, read the actual tool result and check whether the next action is verification, another proposal or a request for information.
  3. At the end, record the changed files or settings, the tests performed and any remaining limitation.

When results are unclear, ask for a narrower investigation instead of repeating the same broad repair. An exhausted allowance or an unavailable tool can interrupt a task after some changes have already been made. Preserve the current state and ask support to help when the live website is affected.
